Stepper Motor features 22 mm diameter.

October 7, 2005 - Measuring 22 x 25.9 mm, 2-phase Model AM 2224 achieves output of 2.5 W and peak holding torque of 45 mNm. Versions are available in 3, 6, 12, and 24 V, as well as 0.25 and 0.50 A. Motor processes transmitted control signals with accuracy, allowing angular step of 18°. In open control loop, it can run rotary speed profiles or build up positioning control. After switching off, motor maintains present position exactly.

MicroMo Electronics Offers the AM 2224, a Compact Powerhouse 22 mm Stepper Motor

MicroMo is presenting a new 2-phase Stepper Motor with a diameter of 22 mm and a very high power-to-volume ratio. The AM 2224 achieves an output of 2.5 W and a peak holding torque of 45 mNm - a superior performance for this frame size (22 x 25.9 mm).

There are 3, 6, 12 and 24 Volt versions available as well as 0.25 A and 0.50 A. The motor processes the transmitted control signals with extreme accuracy. This allows an angular step of 18° (even smaller in micro-stepping). In an open control loop this makes it possible to run rotary speed profiles or build up a positioning control. The use of expensive servo components can usually be avoided. After switching off, the motor maintains its present position exactly.

Like brushless motors, stepper motors do not have any mechanical commutation, so service life is only limited by the bearings.

In order to also exploit the advantages of this motor technology where more torque is required, the AM 2224 is available with matching speed reducers, e.g. the Planetary Gearhead Series 23/1 increases continuous torque to 0,7 Nm, and even to 1 Nm in intermittent operation.
