Discreet, Efficient Video Surveillance
Kaiserslautern (Germany)
The new Mobotix D10 Dual-Fixdome camera family, from Mobotix AG, has been equipped with two individually adjustable megapixel camera modules as well as a Linux PC with a microphone, a speaker and a passive infrared detector, all under a transparent dome.
The two separate camera modules can monitor different parts of any building area at the same time. In a hotel entrance hall, for example, a single fixdome camera can monitor movements near the door, while keeping an eye on the elevator opposite the entrance as well. This reduces the number of security cameras subjectively perceived by the hotel guests.
Thanks to the new look, the D10 camera models can also be easily integrated into rooms that call for an elegant design.
The two D10 camera modules can be flexibly equipped with different lens combinations. In the Day&Night version, for example, one of the modules has a color sensor, while the other contains a sensitive black-and-white image chip. Depending on the light conditions at any given time, the camera automatically switches between the two sensors. Thanks to its image resolution of 1.3 megapixels (1280 x 960 pixels), the Mobotix D10 delivers highly detailed images. The freely definable exposure zones also make it possible to adjust the camera to accommodate difficult backlight conditions.
The audio signals detected by the D10's microphone can be reproduced and recorded lip-synchronized to the images.
Like all Mobotix cameras, the D10 can be easily integrated into a wide variety of communications environments via ISDN, GSM, DSL, WLAN and Ethernet. All the software required to operate the complete range of functions for video surveillance - from event detection to long-term image recording - is already included in the camera. Any standard web browser, such as Netscape or the Internet Explorer, can be used to operate the camera or to retrieve the recorded video sequences.
