Diamond America Introduces Complete Die Rebuilding Services

Akron, OH: Diamond America Corporation, a global builder of extruders, screws and barrels, has recently introduced a complete line of extrusion die rebuilding services. In a coordinated effort with its sister company, Akron Tool and Die Co., Inc. they have decided to capitalize on their combined resources to provide a more full service approach to their current served markets as well as growth objectives of the company, to new markets and products.

According to Pat Warmington, President and COO of the parent holding company, "We have been rebuilding and refurbishing dies and a vast variety of precision machined components since the early 1960's and it is time to make our experience and expertise available to the entire plastic extrusion industry."

The Diamond America rebuilding program includes disassembly and cleaning of the die; stripping of all prior plating; polishing of all flow areas to 6-8 rms; grinding of all seal surfaces to .0005"; machining of feed openings to accommodate grind stock removal; plate die internals to .001" and flash plate all other exposed areas to .0005"; final assembly, inspect and return to customer in a like new condition.

During the process, Diamond America maintains accurate records on each die and establishes a data base that notes any changes or specific repairs made to the die and records a detailed history of the die for future reference.

Diamond America can rebuild dies for sheet and film, coating and lamination, blown film, pipe and extrusion. In addition the company can rebuild strand dies for the compounding and colorant markets.

In addition to rebuilding dies, Diamond America can design and build new Multiflow strand dies and blown film dies for PVC applications.
