Gas Monitors Go Wherever Hazards Are

(Milford, OH) - The Detective from Crowcon is a free-standing, transportable gas detector and alarm unit which provides reliable protection wherever there are short-term hazards, such as during annual maintenance turn-a-rounds. The Detective can be used individually or in groups to monitor up to four gases at once. If a dangerous gas level is detected, the unit warns with a wailing 101-decibel siren and flashing, high intensity LED beacons visible from any direction.

Used as a stand-alone unit, the Detective can monitor small areas or protect lone workers. However, for wide-area coverage - for example, when tracking the spread of a gas leak - several Detectives can be linked to create a perimeter monitor around the site in minutes. Any units detecting a dangerous gas level flash their warning lights faster than the others in the network, allowing personnel in the area to identify the safest exit route.

The Detective's distinctive design incorporates a sturdy tripod which keeps the gas sensors raised above obstructions and away from surface water. An integral safety cage gives extra protection in the event of the unit being overturned.

A 48-character text display large enough to be seen at a distance shows gas levels for all four channels simultaneously, making it easy to track multiple gas hazards. Sensors are available for oxygen, flammable gas and all toxic gases commonly encountered in industry.

The Detective is Intrinsically Safe and protected against water and dust ingress. Power is provided by a sealed 6V rechargeable battery giving up to 24 hours' continuous monitoring in quiescent mode.
