Versatile OTP Oscillator Delivers Differential LVPECL for Data Designers with Deadlines

C-MAC MicroTechnology has introduced a one-time-programmable oscillator offering fast delivery at any output frequency

Durham, NC, September 2005 - C-MAC MicroTechnology has introduced a one-time-programmable oscillator offering fast delivery at any output frequency between 150 and 700 MHz. Packaged in an industry standard 6-pad 7 x 5 mm ceramic SMD, the new CFPP-620 provides differential LVPECL (low-voltage positive emitter-coupled logic) output, making it particularly suitable for broadband transmission equipment and other data communications applications.

For any predetermined output frequency within the available range, prototypes can be factory programmed and delivered typically within two weeks, making the CFPP-620 ideal for designers that need to turn around high-frequency designs within tight timescales.

Although it is a low-cost, essentially "off-the-shelf" device, the CFPP-620 provides frequency stability of ±25 ppm over its operating temperature range of -40° to +85°C, with ageing effects within ±5 ppm over the first year of operation. Period jitter is specified as 10 ps rms (typical).

The CFPP-620 powers its dual complimentary LVPECL outputs from a 3.3 V supply, drawing a maximum of 130 mA, and features a tri-state mode for ease of use with automatic test equipment. It is designed for lead free soldering and compliant with all requirements of the RoHS regulations.

"Thanks to its versatility and fast prototype turnaround, our factory programmable CFPP-620 will be of major benefit to data comms designers in a hurry," said Peter Sinclair, Applications Support Manager with C-MAC Frequency Products. "The fact that it offers good stability at a highly competitive price adds further to its appeal."

Example pricing for the CFPP-620 is around $15 each for 1,000 pieces.

About C-MAC MicroTechnology:

C-MAC MicroTechnology specializes in the design and manufacture of high-reliability products. With design and manufacturing facilities in the UK, France, Belgium and Canada and additional dedicated sales offices within Europe, the USA and China, C-MAC MicroTechnology serves the military, aerospace, transportation, medical, industrial and communications equipment sectors, and has built up an extensive portfolio of intellectual property resources and an impressive electronics design and manufacturing pedigree geared specifically to these industries. C-MAC's products are usually found in applications that operate in harsh environments, often at extremes of temperature or frequency.

C-MAC MicroTechnology comprises two business units: C-MAC MicroSystems Solutions and C-MAC Frequency Products.

C-MAC Frequency Products has a 70-year history of manufacturing quartz-based frequency control products and now has four design, engineering, manufacturing and sales centers in Crewkerne, Harlow and Lincoln, UK, and Argenteuil, France. Its product range encompasses AT and SC cut crystals, crystal oscillators, voltage controlled crystal oscillators (VCXOs), temperature compensated crystal oscillators (TCXOs), oven controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs), and rubidium oscillators and clocks. Particular specializations include patented ASIC-based high-stability TCXOs, ultrastable OCXOs and SDH/SONET reference oscillators.
