New Active Directory/LDAP Connector Module
The Bitrix Company announces the release of a new module: Active Directory/LDAP Connector devoted to simplify the integration of the Bitrix Site Manager in corporate portals. The new module aims to integrate the Bitrix Site Manager in corporate network while providing the centralized management of user groups within the corporate information system.
The new module enables to integrate the Bitrix Site Manager in corporate networks built on Windows Server 20002003, Unix and Novell.
The Active Directory/LDAP Connector helps build a centralized control point of the corporate information system to manage users and their permissions to access the corporate portal. Users become able to authorise in the corporate portal using their login and password and gain access to the corporate portal resources, take part in forum discussions, publish information with respect to their access permissions defined in the corporate network.
Banks, hosting and telecommunication service providers and other companies can now provide the unified authorization system when creating private areas in their sites for corporate clients and publish paid information in these areas. Besides, the Helpdesk and Forums modules can be used in these special areas to create private technical support service and forums.
Sergey Ryzhikov, the Director of the Bitrix company, points out that the release of this new module can significantly simplify the process of integration of intranet and extranet sites in the corporate networks. Network administrators will breathe with relief when they know that they do not have to duplicate user profiles each time a new resource is launched.
The Internet will seamlessly blend with the corporate culture. The "Active Directory/LDAP Connector" can bind user groups of the corporate network to the site manager user groups. The corporate internal user groups may be assigned permissions to access the corporate network resources. These user groups may be mapped to the user groups of the site so that they can access the site resources.
When integrating a site into the corporate information system, a task may arise to distribute employees' permissions to access or manage the site resources. Sometimes, administrators may need to copy the existing corporate network user groups to a site manager and assign employees to these groups while distributing their access permissions. The "Active Directory/LDAP Connector" module will aid administrators to accomplish this task because it can manage user profiles from a single control point (corporate server).
As before, all registered users of the Bitrix Site Manager Enterprise edition can obtain the new module free of charge. The "Active Directory/LDAP Connector" module will not be included in the Enterprise edition. In this case, it can be purchased separately.
