ANTs Data Server Builds on Universal Compatibility and Adds Support for 64-bit Linux Platforms

Version 3.2 Now a Direct Replacement for TimesTen

SAN FRANCISCO, LINUXWORLD, Aug. 8 -- ANTs software, inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: ANTS) , a developer of high-performance SQL database management systems, today announced version 3.2 of its flagship ANTs Data Server (ADS), building on the company's universal compatibility roadmap that provides native support for applications written for Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and now, TimesTen databases. The company also plans to add two additional databases by the end of this year.

Through its improved compatibility with Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase databases and its embedded deployment mode that support TimesTen applications, ANTs Data Server 3.2 allows enterprises to quickly move their applications without the major rewrites and cost usually associated with application migration. By moving applications to the ANTs Data Server, organizations can cut their total cost of ownership from 60 to 90 percent compared to other databases. The savings are realized through reduced license, maintenance, support and administrative costs.

"Every large organization has considered standardizing on a single database, but no one has succeeded. Performance differences, locking problems and proprietary stored procedure languages/triggers have made it very expensive, and in all cases, technically difficult," said Boyd Pearce, ANTs software chief executive officer. "Universal compatibility makes consolidating on ANTs quicker and easier, our lock-free performance advantage makes it an SLA winner and the 60-90 percent cost reduction should make it the highest project ROI in IT today."

"With its Oracle compatibility, the ANTs Data Server enabled Grupo S&C to port a massive Oracle application in just one week, and is now helping our government and commercial customers to meet their goal of cost-effectively improving performance," said Juan Enrique Ramos, Grupo S&C vice president of research and development. "ANTs' universal compatibility strategy promises to eliminate the most significant barrier to application migration, making it easy for organizations to move away from their costly, performance-bound databases, and opening the door to lower-cost, higher performance database solutions."

ANTs Data Server 3.2 new features include improvements to Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase compatibility by supporting dynamic SQL from stored procedures, the ability to handle multiple result sets and support for very large stored procedures. A new, embedded deployment mode allows easy migration of TimesTen embedded applications. Support for ANSI outer joins and improved import/export tools also simplify migration.

ANTs 3.2 is also the only lock-free relational database management system architected for popular 64-bit Linux operating system implementations running on AMD Opteron and Intel Xeon platforms. The ANTs Data Server sets a new precedent in the database industry, allowing large OLTP, real-time analytical processing and enterprise reporting to run concurrently in the same server.

ANTs software will be presenting ANTs Data Server 3.2 in booth 766 at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, August 9 to 11, 2005 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
