Drop-In Replacement On/Off Fan Drive Provides Increased Fleet Uptime
ELGIN, IL – SKF recently introduced the Kysor™ HRU On/Off Fan Drive Assembly to its line of BorgWarner Cooling Components. Engineered to meet or exceed OE specifications, the Kysor HRU is a drop-in replacement for existing OE fan drive assemblies and is available for 22 competitor applications.
SKF and BorgWarner engineered the new Kysor HRU fan drive to replace the Horton fan drive currently installed as original equipment on a number of fleet vehicles. The BorgWarner Kysor HRU fan drive replacement unit will be sold exclusively through SKF in the heavy duty aftermarket.
The Kysor HRU fan drive consists of a two-piece modular design, which makes service of the component faster and easier. The dynamic torque capacity of the fan drive assembly enables higher performance and increased engine power. Additionally, the unit’s Failsafe™ component keeps the fan clutch engaged in the event of air system pressure failure, creating greater dependability for the unit.
“The availability of the Kysor HRU unit offers fleets a solution for quicker vehicle maintenance, and a proven solution for fan drive failures in the industry,” said Leslie Kern, senior product manager, SKF. “The Kysor HRU fan drive will increase a fleet’s uptime and profitability by significantly reducing maintenance time and costs.”
The Kysor HRU fan drive consists of “free floating” lining that creates fast and simple in-chassis replacement. Additionally, the unit supports higher airflow requirements, which allows the engine to run longer and more efficiently. With the ability to cool more effectively, the fan drive manages increased under hood temperatures and heat environments.
