Hudson Color Launches New Line Of Color Concentrates For Wood-Plastic Composites

EverWoods(TM) Color Concentrates Deliver No-Fade Good Looks And Long Life Durability for Wood-Fiber/Plastic Composites Applications

LEOMINSTER, Mass., Jun. 30, 2005 - Hudson Color Concentrates, an industry leader in the manufacture of engineered colorants for plastics processing, is announcing the introduction of its EverWoods(TM) line of color concentrates. The new line has been specifically formulated for use with wood-fiber/plastic composite materials, and is currently available in six standard wood-tone colors or can be custom matched to meet a processor's specific color requirement. EverWoods(TM) concentrates are designed for use with wood-plastics composites material, which combine wood fibers with commonly used thermoplastic resins such as PET, PVC, PP, PS and ABS. The line is particularly attractive to many wood industry processors wanting to transition production of traditionally wood-only or wood/metal products to the wood-fiber/plastics composites.

According to Hudson Color Vice President of Sales and Marketing David Boudreau, many products typically made from wood or metal are becoming available in composite materials. "Applications that convert wood material to wood-fiber/plastics composites is growing at a very fast pace because the composites offer many advantages over woods and some metals particularly for durability and overall cycle cost value," he said. "We focused our research and development effort to create a line of colorants for use in wood/plastics composites that provide end-users with greater advantages in color dispersion and surface appearance, dimensional stability and no edge tearing, and can increase extrusion line speeds or molding cycle times for faster output."

EverWoods(TM) concentrates are ideal for wood/plastics composites applications requiring dimensional stability and reduced warping, long-term durability with no fading or staining, and impact resistance. Typical end uses include outdoor decking, landscape timbers/edging, picnic tables, benches and fencing, playground structures, outdoor spas and patio furniture and marine applications such as boat docks.

Broadly recognized for its ability to produce color concentrates of the highest quality with batch-to-batch consistency in relatively short lead times, Hudson Color Concentrates produces an extensive line of specially engineered colorants and additives for all thermoplastics. Whether it's a standard line of concentrates or custom matched to customer requirements, all Hudson Color products are innovative solutions to challenging applications in building/construction, electrical, wire and cable, packaging, housewares, medical, personal care products industries.

Hudson Color Concentrates is a privately held company that provides a range of products and services to the plastics industry, including custom color and additive concentrates, dry color, and pre-colored (stock) materials for injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, compression or rotational molding and compounding processes. Hudson Color Concentrates is ISO 9001:2000 certified, and maintains production, sales and warehouse operations in the United States and Mexico.
