Edify Voice Interaction Platform (EVIP) 9.5 Delivers Lower Cost of Ownership and Enhances Benefits of VoIP

Edify Introduces Next Generation Voice Platform

SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 2, 2005 -- EdifyŽ Corp., a leading global supplier of voice and speech solutions, today introduced the latest version of its proven Edify Voice Interaction Platform (EVIP(TM)) Release 9.5, a comprehensive voice system that enables organizations to manage every aspect of their voice and speech applications across the enterprise. With EVIP Release 9.5 organizations can now take advantage of the benefits of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) such as easier management and improved scalability without incurring additional hardware costs. EVIP Release 9.5 offers organizations a choice between a hardware-based VoIP solution and a software-only Host Media Processing (HMP) support. By providing organizations with the flexibility to choose from two separate deployment options it allows customers to choose the solution that best fits and supports their organizational needs to maximize their IT investment and ultimately lower their total cost of ownership (TCO).

"Businesses today are looking to simplify and stitch together their existing IT infrastructure. And for most businesses the thought of 'rip and replace' is not a favorable option," said Daniel Hong, voice business analyst at Datamonitor. "EVIP Release 9.5 offers companies an interoperable and scalable solution backed with fifteen years of solid voice and speech experience. Now Edify can more effectively meet the needs of companies that are looking for either a complete solution or prefer to maintain their existing solution and still benefit from new technology, through its latest release of EVIP."

In order for companies to provide superior customer service and get the most out of their IT investments, they need to utilize a technology that enables them to build and deploy standards-based voice applications utilizing VoIP, Session Initiation Protocol, VoiceXML and Speech Application Language Tags (SALT). EVIP Release 9.5 supports these emerging standards and also provides organizations with the opportunity to choose from two separate deployment options: a Voice Browser and Voice Application Server that enables companies to deploy an Enterprise Voice Portal Architecture, or a complete voice system platform that encompasses an all-in-one voice and speech solution.

Edify's open development environment allows developers to use VoiceXML when preferred and leverages Edify's data access and multi-channel capabilities. This can be done in a distributed environment or on a single, integrated platform. In addition to flexibility and breadth of offerings, EVIP Release 9.5's browser support for HMP VoIP can lower organizations TCO by providing a standards-based solution that doesn't require weeks of special training. And because this is a software only solution, organizations can deploy only those ports necessary rather than conforming to 24-port increments further optimizing their investment. EVIP Release 9.5 also supports Windows 2003 operating environment for business operations and the MRCP open standard for broader speech recognition engine support.

"This is Edify's latest step towards its goal of helping its clients deliver the best possible customer service with voice and speech technologies," said Mitch Mandich, president and CEO of Edify. "Enabling our clients to scale their voice solutions anywhere from four ports up to 480 ports on a single server and benefit from open standards has a direct impact on their bottom-line, significantly lowering their TCO and enabling a more efficient business."

Availability
EVIP Release 9.5 is expected to be available during the Third quarter in 2005.
