MSA Chillgard NH3Gas Monitor Provides Economical PPM Ammonia Detection

The new Chillgard® NH3 Gas Monitor, an economical solution for parts-per-million (ppm) detection of ammonia, is now available from the MSA Instrument Division. Among its world-class design and engineering features are electrochemical sensing technology and a single-board design for maximum reliability and serviceability.

The Chillgard NH3 Gas Monitor is part of the MSA family of Chillgard products designed to monitor for the loss of refrigerant gases in a variety of applications, including mechanical equipment rooms, propellant-filling operations, solvent-cleaning stations, cold storage and transport facilities, meat packing plants, supermarkets and refrigerant storage locations, and other specialty applications.

MSA’s Chillgard NH3 Gas Monitor has a full-scale range of 0-1,000 ppm, with the ability to measure a leak as low as 10 ppm, well below the established threshold limit values for ammonia. The monitor provides fast, reliable detection for low-level leaks of ammonia, preventing major gas loss. The unit’s standard 4-20 mA output can be connected directly to any Building Automation System (BAS) or other controller, to provide indication of a leak prior to a worker entering the room. Additionally, with the integral display and status LEDs, workers have a visual indication of the ammonia level in their work area. Monitor installation is both simple and flexible.

Features:

• Internal heater option for operation down to -40ºC (-40ºF).

• Fast response, as electrochemical sensor is located directly under the calibration cap.

• Water- and corrosion-resistant NEMA 4X enclosure.

• Interchangeable smart sensors are ready for installation out of the box, and can be replaced in the field without the use of tools.

• State-of-the-art liquid crystal display (LCD) conveniently alternates between sensor reading and gas type, and features scrolling messaging.

• Optional onboard LEDs and relays allow for increased indication of alarm and fault conditions.
