Overview

IBM TotalStorage® DR550 Express is a data-retention solution designed for small to medium businesses. Delivered as an integrated solution, IBM DR550 Express can help businesses store, retrieve, manage, share, and protect regulated and nonregulated data by integrating and delivering a solution as a single unit. It offers archival and retention capabilities to help organizations address new government and industry regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, and SEC Regulation 17a-4.

DR550 Express integrates IBM technology, including SCSI storage disk drives, Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) technologies and policy-based and event-based data management control code as a preconfigured solution. Ordered, delivered, and installed as an integrated solution, DR550 Express provides upgrade options for connectivity and storage capacity, helping to manage 1.1 TB of physical disk storage capacity and additional external tape or optical storage per system.

Designed to be easy to install, configure, and operate, the solution leverages an IBM pSeries® POWER™ 5 processor-based server with industry leading price/performance and autonomic technologies. This powerful solution, which fits into a separately purchased securable cabinet, supports the ability to retain data without alteration throughout its lifetime. The system's compact design can help with fast and easy deployment, and incorporates an open and flexible architecture.
