Transceiver Modules use software to boost data transmission.

August 4, 2005 - Wireless easy-Radio modules utilize V2 firmware, which provides features such as brown-out settings recovery, and all radio communications and data I/O software is embedded in fully compliant module. Along with user-selectable frequency, data-rate, and power output, modules offer ±10 ppm frequency tolerance, -40 to +85°C operating temperature range, and user-defined defaults. Channel frequency can be changed to personalized settings for 433–434 and 868–928 MHz bands.

New Software for easyRADIO Transceiver Modules Improves Wireless Data Transmission

Pittsford, NY. Saelig Co. Inc. announces new V2 firmware for its market-leading easy- Radio range of software-embedded wireless modules. Ongoing feedback from customers led to firmware improvements such as brown-out recovery, as well as other new features being added to enhance the versatility of the easy-Radio range.

The key to easy-Radio wireless modules' success is in embedding all the radio communications and data I/O software in a fully compliant module. This offers systems builders an "out-of-the-box" solution for making their instrument wireless, with no RF experience needed. This gives the fastest possible time to market for their products: as there is no complex radio software to write, data can be connected directly, and no RF testing or approvals are required.

User settings are now protected from loss even when using power cycling to reduce power consumption, while key features such as user selectable frequency, data-rate and power output have been retained. Improved and tighter frequency tolerance (+/-10ppm) ensures long-life stability, and operating temperature range has been extended to -40 to +85C. User programmable operating frequencies are now available to enable the channel frequency to be changed to personalized settings for both 433-434 and 868-928MHz bands. Multiple choices are available in the 433-434MHz ISM band.

Further enhancements have been made to simplify communication with easy-Radio modules. Fast ACK feature reduces time to issue ER commands. Default power settings allow users to set their own settings for each channel. Customizable data ID allows each module to be given a unique 16bit ID to prevent communication with other easy-Radio users. Digital channel selection prevents crosstalk between adjacent channels. Also, a new 'repeater mode' means that data can be relayed between modules to increase range. And encryption is available to configure devices and transmit secure data. The over-air data-rate is now adjustable to allow users to trade speed for range.

Speed may also be maximized by user-defined maximum data packet size, ensuring best use of transmission time and by using the simultaneous upload/download feature where messages may be uploaded or received over air while the module delivers received messages. Reconfigurable channel frequencies allow the flexibility to listen on one frequency while transmitting on another.

Users often underestimate the complexities of establishing reliable wireless links using RF ICs and then actually transmitting data through them, but easyRadio really is easy. Made in Europe by Low Power Radio Solutions, v2 software is free with ER900TRS easyRadio modules in a $149 Starter Kit from LPRS' USA agents Saelig Co. Inc.
