Spectra II –State of the Art Stretch Wrap Technology Debuts at Pack Expo
New Orion Semi-Automatic Stretch Wrapper Offers Greatest Flexibility
COLLIERVILLE, TN (April 2005) - Orion Packaging debuts the Spectra II, a semi-automatic turntable stretch-wrapping machine capable of wrapping pallet loads up to 55”x 55” x 90”H and weighing up to 5,000 lbs at Pack Expo in Las Vegas, booth #C-2528. Major improvements from Orion’s previous Spectra model include AC motors with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) to reduce motor maintenance, an Allen Bradley Micrologix 1000 controller for maximum reliability and flexibility and rugged, easily serviced industrial grade buttons and switches.
Highlights of the Spectra II state of the art technology include:
· Reduced maintenance AC motors controlled by Digital Variable Frequency Drives, (VFD), for less wear than DC motors. The AC motors require almost no maintenance (because they have no brushes to be replace) and provide the same high performance of DC motors.
· A control panel that uses durable and easily serviced push buttons and switches. Individual components are easy to replace, widely available and user-friendlier for operators wearing gloves.
· Versatile and reliable Allen Bradley (AB) Micrologix 1000 PLC controller. Inputs on the AB PLC allow the Spectra II to accept a wider range of factory options.
The Spectra II also features:
· Orion’s Insta-Thread™ Powered Prestretch carriage with a standard prestretch rate of 260% for maximum stretch film performance and economy.
· Variable turntable rotation of up to 14 RPM allows the Spectra II to wrap up to 45 loads/hr.
· An ergonomic, side-facing carriage design that allows for easier film roll change without stepping between the carriage and the load.
· A high-efficiency helical gear reducer which is more resistant to damage from lift-truck bumps when loading.
· Automatic load height sensing for pallets up to 90” that stops the carriage ascent automatically when the top of the load is seen by the photo eye.
· Enclosed tower design to protect motors, gearboxes and electronics from damage.
· Forklift portable base design for easy machine transport from both the front and rear of the machine.
· Automatic chain tensioning, eliminating the need for periodic adjustment of the turntable drive chain.
· A steel ring turntable "skirt" that prevents turntable flexing should the wheel of a forklift drive onto it.
