New Dual Tube DC-to-AC Inverter Powers Selected Sharp & Optrex Super Bright LCD DisplaysSAN MARCOS, CA-June 30, 2005-TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.), INC., announces the KLS-150A, a compact single-board DC-to-AC inverter for driving dual cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) in LCD back-lighting applications. Typical uses include medical and industrial equipment requiring super-bright, high-visibility displays. Designed for harsh 0 to 60C (32-140F) operating environments, the convection-cooled KLS-150A module offers a highly economical solution, providing brightness control, on/off control features and high operating efficiency.
The KLS-150A dual-lamp CCFL driver provides an input range of 10.8 to 13.2 V (12 V, typical), and a Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) brightness control frequency of 204 Hz, typical. Device power output at maximum luminance is 6.5 W per lamp or 13 W total. Physically, the KLS-150A measures only 120 mm (4.72") L x 40 mm (1.57") W x 9.0 mm (0.39") H. Other (typical) specifications include 2100 VRMS start-up voltage, 930 VRMS output voltage, 50 kHz output frequency, and 1.2 A input current.
