Surface Finishes do not contain lead or cadmium.

July 12, 2005 - Lead- and Cadmium-Free Electroless Nickel surface finish is electroless nickel process yielding mirror bright nickel phosphorus alloy that offers corrosion resistance, uniformity of coverage, and repair and salvage capabilities. Trivalent Chromate Conversion Coating produces protective coating on pure aluminum, zinc, and anodic aluminum. It minimizes corrosion, provides bonding surface for paints, and appears faint blue to tan and iridescent.

Imagineering Finishing Technologies (IFT) of Indianapolis Announces the Availability of Two New Surface Finishes

The Imagineering KnowledgeSource™ Team adds Lead- and Cadmium-Free Electroless Nickel as well as Trivalent Chromate Conversion Coating.

Indianapolis, Indiana.—Imagineering Finishing Technologies (IFT), a leading innovator providing precision metal finishing and expert wear and corrosion consulting, is pleased to announce two new product offerings at their new Indianapolis facility. Two new surface finishes now complement IFT’s already established Electroless Nickel line: Lead- and Cadmium-Free Electroless Nickel, plus Trivalent Chromate Conversion Coating. Each has its own unique characteristics, benefits, and value.

Lead- and Cadmium-Free Electroless Nickel is an electroless nickel process that yields a mirror bright nickel phosphorus alloy. It has all the same attributes as the standard Electroless Nickel as far as corrosion resistance, uniformity of coverage, hardness, superior lubricity, and repair and salvage capabilities. This process does not contain lead or cadmium and meets the requirements of the European Union End-of-Vehicle Life Directive.

Trivalent Chromate Conversion Coating is a liquid chemical trivalent chromate conversion coating used to produce a protective coating on pure aluminum, zinc, and their alloys, and on anodic aluminum coatings, which minimizes corrosion and provides an improved bonding surface for paints. Surfaces treated with this Trivalent coating process are generally a faint blue to tan, and iridescent.

About Imagineering Finishing Technologies

Based in South Bend, Indiana, IFT is the worldwide KnowledgeSource™ for the aerospace, automotive and military industries, OEMs, tier manufacturers, engineers, specifying designers and others requiring precision surface finishing, nondestructive testing, and highly experienced wear and corrosion consulting. In addition, IFT applies their expertise to companies seeking quality workmanship on everyday parts as well.

Founded in 1959, IFT is one of the nation’s leaders in precision metal finishing and expert wear and corrosion consulting, servicing a vast array of industries worldwide. IFT is strategically centered in the “Great Industrial Triangle™,” between Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis.

IFT’s expertise and accreditations are so far-reaching, they are in the nation’s top one-percentile for the full potential array of certifications and accreditations a metal finisher can achieve. This includes the Big Five: AS9100, ISO 9001, QS-9000, ISO 14001 certification, and Nadcap accreditation for Chem Processing & NDT (PT/MT). “From our calculations,” elaborates Randy Miller, IFT Chief Operating Officer, “of the thousands of metal finishers nationwide, 99.2% of them do not possess the full package of global certifications and accreditations as we have achieved. This allows our outstanding team to provide the highest level of service and confidence to our customer base.” Less than 1% of metal finishing firms nationwide have achieved QS-9000 for automotive, ISO 9001:2000 International Quality Standards, ISO 14001 for environmental, the newest international Nadcap accreditations, and AS9100 for aerospace and defense clients.
