Ammonia Scrubber cleans up stack gas samples.

November 19, 2001 - AS-Series removes ammonia salts from stack gas samples, eliminating damage to analyzers and sampling equipment. Applications include ammonia injection as part of DeNOx process, which can cause problems for emissions-monitoring instruments because residual ammonia in stack gases reacts with sulfur dioxide to form ammonium salts that accumulate in sample lines, clogging and damaging components. Scrubber removes this ammonia from gas samples.

Ammonia Scrubbers Eliminate Clogged Analyzers When Using DeNOx

New, longer lasting AS-Series ammonia scrubbers and heated scrubber enclosures from Perma PureŽ remove ammonia slip from stack gas samples, eliminating damage to analyzers and sampling equipment.

Ammonia injection as part of the DeNOx process may reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, but it often causes problems for emissions monitoring instruments. Residual ammonia in stack gases reacts with sulfur dioxide to form ammonium salts that are still gases when the sample is hot, but precipitate when the sample cools. The salts then accumulate in sample lines or analyzers, clogging and damaging components and causing maintenance headaches.

AS-Series ammonia scrubbers selectively remove this ammonia from gas samples, preventing damage to the gas analysis system. The rugged scrubber housing is permanently mounted within the gas sample stream. The housing may be released and removed without tools to replace the proprietary ammonia scrubbing media. The new, improved media greatly extends the maintenance intervals between replacements. A visible change occurs in the media so it is easy to determine when to replace it, normally after several months.

A new, low-cost heated ammonia scrubber assembly is also now available. A thermal blanket (110 or 220V) with velcro closures surrounds the ammonia scrubber. Simply unzip the blanket to access the scrubber for routine replacement of the scrubber media.
