GSI Lumonics Introduces Second Generation of JK Twin-Rod Lasers

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI & RUGBY, ENGLAND, May, 2005 - GSI Lumonics announces the introduction of its second generation of pulsed Nd:YAG lasers combining their patented TR Technology for the highest beam quality available with state-of-the-art control and beam delivery technology. The JK450HP and JK600HP, which utilize a twin-rod oscillator design to increase efficiency and beam quality, offer rep rates up to 1000 Hz and minimum pulse lengths of 0.2ms for faster, more precise cutting, welding and drilling applications.

Spanning a range of power levels, the economical JK-HP Series marks the introduction of a number of uniquely valuable features as standard across the JK product line, enhancing performance and process reliabilities while reducing integration and operating costs, training, and parts holding requirements for all users. These include such JK features as: LaserView™ control technology, which enables complete cycle programming triggered by a single command, in-process viewing, video capture, and real-time graphical displays of key parameters; patented Luminator™ plug-and-play fiber optic beam delivery with built-in back reflection protection; pulse shaping, a field-proven GSI Lumonics' first which allows tailoring of pulse shape to optimize process requirements; faster shutter interface protocol for quicker response on parameter changes and more precise timing in time-share mode; and fully integrated time and energy shares for greater reliability and reduced maintenance costs. Combining such features as these with the long-standing, field-proven JK track record for dependability, economy and performance, the JK-HP Series offers the best overall value, reliability, and cost of ownership available today.

GSI Lumonics Inc. supplies precision motion control components, lasers, and laser-based advanced manufacturing systems to the global medical, semiconductor, electronics, and industrial markets. GSI Lumonics' common shares are listed on Nasdaq (GSLI) and The Toronto Stock Exchange (LSI). For more information on GSI Lumonics, please visit www.gsilumonics.com.
