Innovasic Releases New RoHS-Compliant Replacement ICs for Am186ES, Am188ES, Am186EM and Am188EM Devices
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, April 26, 2005 – Innovasic, Inc., a developer of replacement integrated circuits, today announced it has released RoHS-compliant versions of its replacement integrated circuits for the AMD® Am186/Am188 family of 16-Bit and 8-Bit Embedded Microcontrollers. Production units are now available for immediate shipment. Innovasic is the only vendor to offer these parts in the specific packaging required by the European Economic Union (EEU) for compliance with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.
Additionally, Innovasic will continue to supply its 186/188 devices in standard package formats for those customers requiring them.
Innovasic is offering the IA186ES, IA188ES, IA186EM and IA188EM as its versions of the AMD® microcontrollers. Features include 5-volt operation and operating frequencies up to 40 MHz. The IA186 and IA188 are compatible with the AMD® Am186EM, Am188EM, Am186ES and Am188ES peripheral sets.

By providing these popular parts in RoHS-compliant packaging, we offer our customers the ability to maintain their software and development investments for as long as required while meeting new EU directives.”
Innovasic produces replacement ICs using its MILESTM or Managed IC Lifetime Extension System cloning technology. MILESTM consists of a proprietary methodology, copyrighted software and advanced EDA tools to clone the original IC. This technology produces complex replacement ICs that are drop-in compatible with the original IC. MILESTM captures the design of a clone so it can be produced even as silicon technology advances. MILESTM also verifies the clone against the original IC so that even the “undocumented features” are duplicated. Today, many of Innovasic’s replacement IC products are operating in the systems built by major defense contractors, Fortune 500 electronics manufacturers and specialty service providers.
