Optrex Announces Expanded Operating Temperature Range for Standard Industrial TFT LCD Product Line To -20° to +70ºC

Plymouth, MI, May 23, 2005 – FPD Total Solution Provider Optrex America, Inc., is expanding the operating temperature range of its standard industrial TFT LCD product line to -20° to +70°C. This standard 90°C-wide operating temperature range is being implemented now and throughout Q3 2005 in what Optrex calls one of the industry’s broadest standard ranges of high-performance active matrix digital TFT LCDs, available in sizes from 6.5-inch through 15.0-inch diagonal in VGA, SVGA and XGA formats.

“Industrial displays need to perform reliably over a wide range of environmental conditions, including extremes in temperature,” said Dale Maunu, Director, Channel Sales & Customer Support for Optrex America. “We have taken the initiative of expanding the operating temperature range of all our standard TFT LCDs by as much as 30ºC to ensure reliable performance with maximum temperature stability.”

The expanded operating temperature range is part of Optrex’s ongoing strategy of coordinated performance enhancements to its industrial TFT product line. Other new performance improvements that will be on display at SID 2005 include Ultra-Wide Viewing films that provide sharp, clear display of images from all angles; LVDS interfaces that improve noise immunity for higher transmission speeds, smaller signal swings, lower power consumption and reduced EMI; Anti-Reflective (AR) surface treatments that dramatically improve high-ambient-light legibility and image clarity; and Natural Color Matrix (NCM), a patented technology that enables truly accurate color representation, optimum color balance and superior image quality.

“These improvements are backward-compatible with our previous displays, thereby offering our customers a drop-in benefit without expensive retooling,” according to Maunu.

Designed for high-information-content display of images from static to full-motion video, Optrex TFT LCDs provide unparalleled front-of-screen performance for a wide variety of non-PC industrial applications, including instrumentation, process control systems, medical diagnostics, office equipment, POS and ATM devices, and high-end appliances/white goods.

Pricing for Optrex’s 8.4” VGA industrial TFT module with expanded operating temperature range (P/N T-51638D084-FW-A-AA) is $247.16 in OEM quantities. Pricing varies according to panel size and quantity. For detailed pricing and delivery information, contact your authorized Optrex representative.
