Tripp Lite Expands KVM Switch Offering with New 32-Port (4-User) Matrix KVM Switch for Large Enterprise Applications

Chicago, IL (March 9, 2005)—Tripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of power protection equipment, has expanded its popular KVM Switch line by introducing a 32-Port (4-User) NetDirector™ Matrix KVM Switch (model #: B060-032) and accessories designed to control and monitor over 1,000 connected PCs or servers by up to four users.

Tripp Lite's 32-Port KVM Switch is the optimal solution for simultaneously controlling multiple computers by up to four independent users. Console Interface Modules (model #: B062-001-USB, B062-001-PS2) and Server Interface Modules (model #: B054-001-USB, B054-001-PS2, B054-001-SUN) are available to connect the KVM Switch to each user’s console (keyboard, video and mouse) as well as to each connected server. Both types of Interface Modules can be placed up to 500 feet away from the KVM Switch using Category 5e patch cables for convenient long-distance access. The 32-Port KVM Switch is PS/2, USB & Sun compatible when used with the Server Interface Modules sold separately. At least one Console Interface Module is required to operate the B060-032 KVM Switch.

“The 32-Port Matrix KVM Switch is one of several new products included in our recent corporate initiative,” stated Eric Diehl, Tripp Lite Vice President of Canadian Sales. “This KVM Switch offers a high-end solution for corporate environments where controlling large enterprise networks is essential to their success. With the combination of premium features, aggressive pricing and world-class support, this product should be a huge hit with IT professionals throughout Canada.”

The 32-Port KVM Switch can control up to 32 directly connected computers (or up to 4,096 computers when additional 32-Port and/or 16-Port KVM Switches are connected through a combination of daisy-chaining and cascading). Occupying only 1U of rack space, the 32-Port KVM Switch fits in any standard 19 in. rack enclosure. The 32-Port KVM Switch and Interface Modules are compatible with all major operating systems, and support most keyboards and mice. A three-level password security feature accommodates a super administrator, administrator and multiple users. In addition, the KVM switch provides superior video quality of up to 1024 x 768 pixels at 500 feet and 1920 x 1440 pixels at normal cable distances.

Plug-and-play setup requires no software, and hot-pluggable capability allows addition or removal of computers without powering down the KVM Switch or other computers. Preprogrammed hotkeys and On-Screen Display (OSD) menus simplify port selection. The “Keep Alive” feature ensures that the connected keyboard and mouse work properly even if the switch loses power. Flash-upgradeable firmware supports the introduction of new input/output devices.
