Keene, N.H. (May 18, 2005) – MARKEM Corporation, a trusted world leader in innovative and reliable product identification solutions, offers the beverage market the 5000 Series of hot melt ink jet case printers for beverage tray and shrink-wrap printing. The 5000 Series provides an environmentally friendly printing solution with clean, solvent-free TouchDry® solid ink and delivers crisp, real-time variable information and codes.
One hundred percent scannable bar codes and detailed graphics and logos are also produced by these printers. The necessity to stock pre-printed trays and cases is eliminated with their use therefore increasing storage efficiency Also, the 5000 Series printers are virtually maintenance free and can be refilled with ink during production, as well as providing an uptime of 99.99 percent.
This series allows users to operate up to four printheads with one controller. The 5200 is capable of controlling two printheads and the 5400 is capable of controlling up to four printheads. Both systems can print on two sides of an item at the same time and are designed for real world manufacturing environments.
The 5200 and 5400, unlike competitive offerings, produce a print that maintains integrity and legibility regardless of variations in corrugated or recycled content and is not affected by moisture or condensation. The series features include the ability to print on shrink-wraps with readable barcodes, and improved productivity with an auto-purge function, therefore requiring less operator intervention. They can be used in moist or wet wash-down environments.
Print resolution and systems capabilities of the 5200 and 5400 meet printing needs through the use of 256 addressable ink jet printheads and the utilization of instantly-drying TouchDry® hot melt ink technology. The 256 jets also allow the series to print high-resolution graphics and logos. This unique ink technology keeps prints from weeping into the substrate and is not affected by recycled content or variation in corrugate packaging. Inks are available in black, blue, green, and red.
