Solder Powder/Flux allows soldering irons to be re-tinned.
May 24, 2005 -
MulticoreŽ TTC-LF consists of lead-free grade solder powder and flux, formed into shape of thick disk for cleaning and de-wetting soldering irons. Users wipe tip of iron across surface of TTC-LF to produce local melting, and then wipe on damp sponge. Suited for lead and lead-free applications, product features activators that thermally decompose into inert components, and ability to clean heavily oxidized metal surfaces such as copper and iron plated soldering tips.

New Lead-Free Product Keeps Soldering Irons in Tip Top Shape
Now electronics manufacturers have a new tool for the benchtop: MulticoreŽ TTC-LF. New from the electronics group of Henkel, TTC-LF is a revolutionary product that allows soldering irons to be re-tinned, even when conventional methods such as sponges, pads or rosin-cored solder wire are not effective.
Applicable for both lead and lead-free applications, TTC-LF is a small block of electronics lead free grade solder powder and flux formed into the shape of a thick disk and is an extremely fast and effective product for cleaning and de-wetting soldering irons. Users need only wipe the tip of the soldering iron gently across the surface of the TTC-LF to produce local melting and then wipe as normal on a damp sponge to ready the iron for re-use.
"This simple, quick and effective method of re-tinning allows electronics manufacturers to realize considerable cost savings," says Doug Dixon, marketing manager for the electronics group of Henkel. "Soldering iron tip oxidation is a common and costly occurrence in electronics production environments. TTC-LF provides a solution to this problem for all applications - whether leaded or lead-free."
Besides its lead-free characteristic, other benefits of Multicore TTC-LF include minimal residues, activators that thermally decompose into inert components, and the ability to clean heavily oxidized metal surfaces such as copper and iron plated soldering tips.
