Phihong Now Offers Custom Back Light Inverters

Wide range of package sizes and voltages meet every flat panel lighting specification...

FREMONT, Calif. (May 3, 2005) — Phihong, the global leader in low cost power supplies, today announced it will offer custom backlight inverters for flat panel display applications. In response to requests from its customers, the company will manufacture the DC-AC power supplies that drive the cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) in LCD back lighting applications to support displays as small as two inches and up to 37 inches.

“Most inverter manufacturers offer standard product, but our customers have found that these offerings rarely meet their needs,” said Keith Hopwood, Vice President of Marketing for Phihong USA. “There are so many specifications that need to be considered when choosing an inverter—the size, voltage, current, the number of bulbs it will drive, dimming capability, brightness—that off-the-shelf products will almost never provide all the capabilities necessary.”

According to Hopwood, Phihong has received many orders for combination lamp and low voltage power supplies as a single power supply for the whole system.

Phihong’s custom back light inverters can power from just one bulb up to 16 and offer output power from 3W to 120W, so they are ideal for applications as diverse as LCD TV, gaming, medical, industrial, and kiosk. Dimming, low power standby and high peak functionality are all available in customized packages.
