Ultrasound Drivers are used in deep body tissue imaging.

May 17, 2005 - Suited for medical ultrasound imaging, HV219 eight-channel analog switch IC utilizes bilateral DMOS switches and CMOS logic for control of up to 200 V signals. CMOS serial shift register logic control minimizes I/O connections and power dissipation, while 11 ohm switch resistance minimizes return signal attenuation. Also available, 16-Channel HV238TA has integrated bleed resistors on outputs that discharge residual dc voltages and reduce erroneous signals.

New Medical Ultrasound Drivers From Supertex Deliver Deeper Body Tissue Imaging Capability

Proprietary Technology Enables Efficient Switching, Clearer Images and Faster Frame Rates

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 28, 2005 – Supertex, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUPX) today introduced the HV219, a low switch resistance, low charge injection, 8-channel, high-voltage analog switch integrated circuit (IC) that is perfectly suited for use in medical ultrasound imaging applications. The IC utilizes high-voltage bilateral DMOS switches and low power CMOS logic to provide efficient control of high voltage signals, up to 200V. In medical ultrasound applications, this allows for higher transmitting voltages that provide deeper body tissue imaging.

Other features of the HV219 include low charge injection to obtain clearer images and a faster frame rate, 11-ohm switch resistance that minimizes return signal attenuation and CMOS serial shift register logic control that minimizes I/O connections and power dissipation.

“The development of the HV219 exemplifies Supertex’s commitment to the ultrasound marketplace and our dedication to providing highly efficient, space-saving driver ICs for medical ultrasound designers,” states Ahmed Masood, Director of Marketing for Supertex. “Our proprietary technology enables us to offer a truly innovative solution that delivers deep body tissue imaging and with exceptionally clear images.”

Additionally, Supertex released the 16-Channel HV238TA in a space-saving TAPP package for higher board density. The IC features integrated bleed resistors on the outputs that discharge residual DC voltages and reduce erroneous signals in medical ultrasound and nondestructive evaluation applications.

The HV219 is available in a 48-lead TQFP package (HV219FG) and a 28-lead plastic package (HV219PJ). The HV238TA is available in a 44-lead package. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-5 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$21.19 each for the HV219FG, US$19.07 for the HV219PJ and US$21.00 for the HV238TA in 1K quantities for these packages.
