Announcing Free Space Radar for Solids; Micropilot M Now Optimized for Level Measurement on Solids

March 31, 2005, Greenwood, Indiana - Endress+Hauser, Inc. announces the Micropilot M FMR250 smart radar level gauge for continuous level measurement of solids. This non-contact radar device is developed to measure the level of plastic pellets, corn, soy beans, cement, and even fly ash under harsh process conditions. These harsh process conditions may contain extensive dust, vapors and even changing product properties up to a temperature of 392°F but will not influence the instrument. The maximum measuring range for this 2-wire device is 230 feet. This makes the unit an ideal replacement for high maintenance mechanical plumb bobs and ultrasonic measurement devices which stop working under dusty circumstances.

The 2-wire, loop powered level gauge reduces wiring costs and installs easily into existing manholes and process connections reducing start up time and costs. Operation and installation of the Micropilot M solid radar is made very easy. Is has an interactive quick setup menu on the local display or just connects to the device with a PC and standard HARTŪ modem. The operating software (Time-of- Flight tool) comes free with every instrument. The ToF-tool is capable of setting up a device and creates electronic documents of the set up file. It is also capable of visualizing the actual raw measurement signal for easy trouble shooting and fine tuning in difficult applications.

The Micropilot M comes with a narrow beam parabolic antenna for long distance measurements or a 3" horn antenna for mounting in small nozzles. An air purge connection to be used in dusty applications is standard. An integral aiming joint on the antenna is optional, giving the customer the possibility to optimize the reflection from the solids surface by tilting the antenna and optimizing the angle of repose.

The Micropiliot M for solids is part of the ToF family of products Endress+Hauser has to offer. Our customers benefit from the knowledge and leading radar technology we can offer. Endress+Hauser is one of the largest suppliers of industrial radar devices in the world. We take pride in supplying the best instruments to suit the application and budget of our customers.
