Cost-effective field bus connection for fanless HMI
Eching / Hanover, Germany, April 11, 2005 – Kontron Embedded Computers introduces the new, fanless V Panel in Hanover. An high-performance HMI in panel format with processor speeds up to Intel® Pentium® M 1.1 GHz, the new V Panel offers field bus connections for CANopen, CAN, DeviceNet or Profibus directly on board and is distinguished by high performance and low power consumption.
For cost-effective connection of the most common field buses, the new V Panels are available with your choice of CANopen, DeviceNet, Profibus or CAN field buses on board, in addition to Ethernet. These systems thus offer a very favorable price for the connection of both classic field buses and future Ethernet connections in the field level.
The core computer of the modular V Panel is based on ETX technology, thus enabling scalable CPU performance up to Intel® Pentium® M 1.1 GHz with corresponding voltage and temperature monitoring. The integrated innovative cooling concept allows passive, fanless cooling with maximum processor performance. The display dimensions are scalable from 10.4“ to 19“; in addition, up to 112 freely programmable function buttons and 16 special buttons can be integrated into the display frame, depending on the display size. The system is also available in a stainless steel version.
With a variety of interface options, such as four serial ports, three USB ports (front and rear), 2 x PS/2, 1 x LPT, as well as LAN 10/100 and LAN 100/1000 Base-TX, it is easy to adapt functionalities to customer requirements. Two free PCI slots and an optional PCMCIA slot are available for expansion. Integrated watchdog and power management functions complete the package. The 100% industrial-grade HMI has a maximum RAM of 1024 MB and Compact Flash up to 2 GB, and can optionally be equipped with a hard drive.
The operating systems Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, as well as Linux and Embedded Linux, are supported.
The V panel series systems are computer supported, compact, high performance human-machine interfaces for tough industrial demands. Optimal shock, vibration and temperature resistance, as well as resistance against increased EMC conditions are a matter of course.
