May 9, 2005 - TotalStorage® 2104 Expandable Storage Plus (Exp Plus) 320 is available with 300 Gb and 146 Gb, hot-swappable, Ultra320 SCSI disk drives that operate at 10,000 and 15,000 rpm respectively. Multi-server DS4 model is designed to be rack-mounted, while single-server TS4 is stand-alone tower. Both come with choice of redundant power source or cooling fan. They fit up to 14 drives per enclosure and offer up to 320 MB/sec synchronous data throughput.

2104 Exp Plus 320 Models DS4 and TS4 are designed to provide:

Up to 4.2 TB physical capacity with the new 300 GB disk drive

Up to 14 SCSI drives per enclosure

Up to 320 MB/sec synchronous data throughput when attached to an Ultra320 SCSI adapter

Redundant power or cooling fan option to help increase reliability

High availability with advanced monitoring using SCSI Enclosure Services

Support for a variety of adapters and native ports on IBM pSeries, p5, and RS/6000 systems within single- or two-host (single- or split-bus) configurations

Overview

The IBM TotalStorage® Exp Plus 320 now offers the option of adding two new high-performance, hot-swappable, Ultra320 SCSI disk drives. The new 300 GB disk drive operates at 10,000 rpm, while the 146 GB disk drive operates at 15,000 rpm, doubling the physical capacity offered for the 2104 to over 4 terabytes (TB). These new disk drives are packaged in a 1-inch (25-mm) form factor.

Options for the new Ultra320 SCSI disk drives are available for both IBM 2104 Exp Plus 320 DS4 and TS4 disk enclosures. The DS4 model is designed to be rack-mounted and is suitable for use with multiple servers, while the TS4 is a stand-alone tower suitable for single server storage. Both come with your choice of a redundant power source or a cooling fan.

The 2104 Exp Plus 320 provides up to 14 drives per enclosure, offers up to 4.2 TB physical capacity, and allows a combination of 10K rpm hot-swappable disk drives (73.4 GB, 146.8 GB, and 300 GB), and 15K rpm hot-swappable disk drives (36.4 GB, 73.4 GB, and 146 GB).

The IBM Exp Plus 320 disk enclosure line is designed to provide high capacity and high performance at affordable prices.

The IBM EXP Plus 320 attaches to IBM pSeries® and select RS/6000® servers with the following host adapters:

PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter (#5710, #5712)

PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI RAID Adapter (#5703, #5711)

PCI Dual Channel Ultra 3 SCSI Adapter (#6203)

PCI 4-Channel Ultra 3 SCSI RAID Adapter (#2498)

PCI Dual Channel Ultra 2 SCSI Adapter (#6205)

Support is available with pSeries servers running AIX® and Linux™ for pSeries.
