USB Flash Drive Solution Offers Protection for Students Using Internet

P.I. ProtectorTM software from imagine LAN, coupled with an ordinary USB flash drive, protects students from leaving personal or course-related information behind when using the Internet on classroom or other public computers.

(Nashua, NH, April 18, 2005) - imagine LAN, Inc., a leading provider of software applications for USB flash drives (to vendors, corporate customers and individual users) today announced a new incentive program to help K-12 schools protect their students when using classroom, library, lab, or other public computers for Internet research and course-related work.

The incentive program offers K-12 schools a thirty percent educational discount on the purchase of imagine LAN's P.I. Protector software for USB flash drives, iPodsR, and other portable storage devices. P.I. Protector is a portable software application that installs to and runs from an ordinary USB flash drive (or other portable storage device) and can be used on any Windows PC (public or private) to ensure that a student's personal and course-related information is not left behind on classroom or other public computers where it could be easily read and used by other students or adults who subsequently use the computer.

In addition to its "leave no trace" protection, P.I. Protector provides the convenience of portable Internet settings - enabling students to take their Internet favorites, history, home page, cookies, etc. with them on the USB flash drive. Portable Internet settings can be a great time-saver for students doing Internet research because their Internet settings are available no matter which PC they use, and new web pages used in their research are automatically saved on their flash drive for later reference.

Students using P.I. Protector on a USB flash drive, iPod or other portable storage device can also take advantage of its portable OutlookR and portable Outlook Express email features, which store the student's email on the flash drive and make it accessible on any Windows PC.

Teachers, administrators, students and their parents who would like to purchase P.I. Protector software and receive a thirty percent educational discount may call imagine LAN sales, toll free at (800) 372-9776. Academic resellers may join imagine LAN's reseller program for access to reseller incentive pricing.

About P.I. Protector

P.I. Protector Mobility Suite enables users to create a portable PC environment-one in which an ordinary USB flash drive (or iPod and other portable storage devices) loaded with P.I. Protector software can turn any PC into their own "virtual system." With this method, a user can plug their flash drive into any Windows PC and operate the host PC as if it were their own, by accessing their entire personal computing environment-files, email, Internet, and other settings from the flash drive, with full security and protection of their personal information. All data throughout the entire session that would normally be stored on the computer's hard drive-such as email messages, files, cookies, passwords, URLs, etc.-is redirected to the USB flash drive, which prevents any information from reaching the hard drive of the system being used. Additionally, file synchronization enables users to update files between the flash drive and their PC, and it does not require installation or additional set up on the host computer.

Availability, Pricing and Requirements

P.I. Protector Mobility Suite supports Windows XP/2000. P.I. Protector requires a USB flash drive or other USB-based portable storage device (purchased separately) with a minimum 16MB of available space. P.I. Protector Mobility Suite costs $30 dollars (U.S.) per device license (for software download) or $40 for the program on CD. Software can be purchased online at www.imaginelan.com or by calling the company at (800) 372-9776. Contact Jan Olsen at (603) 889-5889 to arrange for a briefing or to obtain evaluation software.
