April 19, 2005 - Rotary hammers utilize CODE! anti-theft protection system, which operates via one-touch IR remote control to protect tools against unauthorized use. Owners can enable or disable multiple CODE!-protected rotary hammers using one key. Each tool can be assigned its own key for single user or multiple keys for multiple authorized users. Integrated LED signals whether tool is enabled or disabled, and tool retains status in case of power failure.

Metabo Unveils Anti-Theft Protection for Rotary Hammer Line
West Chester, PA, April 2005 -- Metabo, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has announced an anti-theft protection system for its line of rotary hammers, which are known for their quality and performance and are often the object of theft.
Metabo’s new CODE! system operates via a one-touch infrared remote control to protect the tools against unauthorized use as reliably and easily as electronic immobilization system on a car. Owners can enable or disable multiple CODE!-protected rotary hammers using a single key or assign each tool either its own key for a single user or multiple keys for multiple authorized users. An integrated LED signals whether the tool is enabled or disabled at a glance. In the event of a power failure, the tool retains the enabled/disabled status set before the failure.
The CODE! system helps businesses save money by ensuring that they avoid the cost of replacing stolen tools; reducing theft-related work interruptions; and averting liability risks incurred by unauthorized use of equipment. In the event of a lost key, only the key needs to be replaced; not the tool.
