New Line of FKI Logistex EASYpick Trak3 Pick-To-Light Components

Enables Increased Productivity and Accuracy in Warehouse and Distribution Center Operations

Compact, highly visible, and "cable-less" devices employ intelligent diagnostics and are easily configurable

(Emeryville, CA: March 24, 2005) FKI Logistex® (www.fkilogistex.com), a global leader in integrated material handling solutions, introduces the EASYpick® Trak3(tm) modular pick-to-light system. Trak3 components offer increased functionality, improved ergonomic features, and advanced diagnostic tools. These significant hardware developments enable higher productivity and accuracy in order fulfillment operations when compared to conventional pick-to-light systems.

FKI Logistex® EASYpick® Trak3
Trak3 devices snap into the track at the pick face with a "cable-less" connection, allowing easy configuration and reconfiguration. The standard four-inch wide Trak3 pick-to-display and two-inch wide pick-to-light components are the most compact available and permit dense placement and more precise alignment with the pick location.

"We've designed the Trak3 line to be the most picker-friendly picking devices available today in the material handling market," says Lance Reese, director of sales, distribution technologies, FKI Logistex North America. "Trak3 devices are more visible and more sensitive to operator needs than competing solutions. They allow pickers to easily identify picking requirements and to quickly communicate with the controlling EASYpick software system, improving productivity and accuracy in warehouse and distribution center operations."

Improved Technical Features
Acknowledgement buttons on the Trak3 devices are designed for durability and easy response to finger pressure. Pressed buttons will make a connection if any of four touch actuators are engaged, offering redundancy and longer life. An elastomer keypad design provides greater reliability and eliminates the possibility of keycaps falling off, a common problem with keycap devices deployed in high-use environments.

Trak3 units replace the single incandescent gumball picking direction light used in conventional picking units with six small bright and easily readable LEDs. Depending on function, devices can display red, amber or green lights, and can be set for static illumination or intermittent flash.

Robust and intelligent self-diagnostic tools that can be run at the device and/or the network level are built into all Trak3 devices, significantly reducing the time required to isolate faulty hardware. Trak3 devices also feature embedded device-level software that automatically checks and self-corrects common problems caused by power fluctuations or severed power connections. In the event of malfunction, Trak3 devices continue to allow the overall system to function and avoid work interruptions.

Trak3 devices are available in a wide variety of formats to accommodate a range of system and budget needs. The pick-to-light version uses pick lights to indicate bin location and bay displays to indicate picking quantities. Pick-to-light devices, like pick-to-display pick lights, can function in a dual mode controlling an upper and lower location. They are also available for left/right location, which is commonly used in pallet picking.

Trak3 Pick-to-display units, which consist of a pick light and four standard LED characters, display pick quantities and allow selected pick menu options, such as short adjustments and carton full at each location. The standard four-character units are available either for up/down or left/right location. Pick-to-display LED readouts are three-quarter inches high for maximum visibility.

Trak3 bay displays are available in a standard 12-character unit and an optional 16-character unit. Bay displays provide pickers with a wide range of picking information, as well as full access to the complete range of pick menu options available with EASYpick order fulfillment software. They can also be outfitted with a remote keypad when bay displays require out-of-reach mounting.

When used in conjunction with EASYpick order fulfillment software from FKI Logistex, Trak3 devices give warehouse and distribution center managers unparalleled order fulfillment system visibility via EASYpick's new web-based supervisor screens. Installed in more than 300 order fulfillment operations worldwide, EASYpick includes standard supervisor screens for work status, workload planning, and productivity.

The new EASYpick Trak3 modular pick-to-light system offers high durability, reliability and ease-of-use for picking and order-filling operations, extending the range of capabilities offered by the EASYpick and EASYput® line of light- and voice-directed picking and putting systems from FKI Logistex.
