Toshiba Machine To Introduce Faster, More Powerful Scara Robot - The TH450

Elk Grove Village, IL - (March 11, 2005) Available in the U.S. in April 2005, Toshiba Machine's new TH450 Scara Robot operates at almost twice the speed and with more power than their high-performance SR424.

Featuring a high output / revolution motor, high-speed ball screws and a lightweight arm, the TH450 reaches composite speeds of 7.33 m/s and three-axis speeds of 2000 mm/s (compared to the SR424's composite speeds of 3.87 m/s and three-axis speeds of 1066 mm/s). Faster acceleration makes the TH450 ideal for short distance movements.

Though TH450 arms are lighter in weight than conventional Scara Robot arms, the TH450's total arm span is 450 mm - a 30 mm increase over the SR424. Longer arm spans considered, Toshiba's latest Scara Robot is still more compact than most. A lower cable position enables the TH450 to be incorporated into tighter spaces.

Another advantage to the TH450 is a greater payload. The TH450's is 5 kg compared to the SR424's 3 kg payload. Positioning repeatability with the TH450 is also worth noting. X-Y and Z accuracies are +/- 0.015 and +/- 0.01 respectively.

The TH450 includes a full-function TS2000 controller. This compact, all-in-one controller includes a built-in PLC, an operation panel, a multitask function and many more features.
