March 25, 2005 - Fibre Channel-based TotalStorage® DS4000 series incorporates Integrated Backup for Databases - DB2®/AIX®, which provides utilities and documentation to install integrated data protection backup solution for DB2 databases and Tivoli® Storage Manager. Base dual-controller model of DS4300 supports DS4000 Storage Manager v9.10 firmware level 06.10, which promotes controller performance in disk configurations up to 256 logical drives per storage partition.

Overview

The IBM TotalStorage® DS4000 series Fibre Channel-based disk storage has been enhanced with new capabilities.

The Integrated Backup for Databases — DB2®/AIX®, a new feature for the DS4500, DS4400, and DS4300, provides the utilities and documentation to install an integrated data protection backup solution for DB2 databases and Tivoli® Storage Manager (TSM) integrated with the FlashCopy® and VolumeCopy copy services available for the DS4000 models.

The base dual-controller model of the DS4300 now supports DS4000 Storage Manager V9.10 firmware level 06.10. This level of firmware is downloadable from the Web. It is designed to provide increased controller performance in larger disk configurations, up to 256 logical drives per storage partition, attachment of the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 EXP710 Storage Expansion Unit, and support to add the VolumeCopy feature.
