March 24, 2005 - With workspace dimensions of 24 x 24 x 24 in., electrically-heated, top-loading No. 943 features 26 kW installed in nickel chrome wire coils, which are supported by vacuum-formed ceramic fiber. Insulated walls integrate 5 in. of 2,300°F ceramic fiber blanket and 2 in. of block insulation. Unit includes 6½ in. thick furnace floor made of castable refractory materials; air-operated, vertical lift door; and reinforced ½ in. steel top plate.

2000°F Electric Pit Furnace

No. 943 is an electrically-heated, 2000°F (1082°C) top-loading pit furnace from Grieve, currently in use on a variety of heat treating applications at a customer's facility. Workspace dimensions measure 24" wide x 24" deep x 24" high. 26kW installed in nickel chrome wire coils, supported by vacuum-formed ceramic fiber, supply heat to the workload.

This Grieve pit furnace features 7" thick insulated walls, comprising 5" of 2300°F (1247°C) ceramic fiber blanket and 2" of block insulation. A 6-1/2" thick furnace floor is made of castable refractory materials.

No. 943 also includes an air-operated vertical lift door and a reinforced 1/2" steel top plate to protect the unit while loading and unloading occur.

Safety equipment includes an adjustable, thermocouple-actuated, manual reset excess temperature controller, separate heating element control contactors and a door interlock switch.
