New ISODAMP. Molding Material from E-A-R Specialty Composites Now Available in Environmentally-Clean, Halogen-Free Formulation
(Indianapolis, IN) Design engineers grappling with vibration and shock control issues in limited spaces, such as in most precision electronics products, can now access the same optimized shock and vibration control properties found in E-A-R Specialty Composites' highly regarded ISODAMP elastomers, in a new halogen-free injection-moldable formulation, ISODAMP C-8002.
ISODAMP C-8002 thermoplastic molding material dissipates energy internally-at the molecular level-virtually immediately, and avoids the design problems of lightly damped compounds (silicones, gels, rubbers, etc) that require excess sway space for deflection during a shock input. Like other ISODAMP elastomers, ISODAMP C-8002 minimizes vibration amplification at resonance, quickly restoring equilibrium to sensitive, precision systems.
The special environmentally clean formulation of ISODAMP C-8002 is expected to be especially important to companies designing products for Japan and other applications where halogens and other substances are excluded.
ISODAMP C-8002 is soft and pliable, yet physically strong, wear-resistant and adhesive friendly. It is also flame-resistant to UL 94 V-0 and highly dielectric.
ISODAMP C-8002 is available in a wide range of standard grommets, mounts and isolators-or in custom-engineered configurations.
ISODAMP C-8002 is designed for the same broad range of applications that utilize E-A-R Specialty Composites' other ISODAMP formulations, ranging from laptop computers and other electronic and electromechanical equipment including hard disk drives, handheld devices and consumer electronics, to portable medical instrumentation, motors, fans and office equipment.
