March 2, 2005 - Designed for xSeries servers, TotalStorage® DS4000 series offers 2 optional 2-Gbps, hot-swappable, Fibre Channel (FC) disk drive modules: 300 GB unit that operates at 10,000 rpm, and 146 GB unit that operates at 15,000 rpm. Former enables configurations at more than 67 TB. Both modules are available for TotalStorage DS4300 Midrange Disk Systems and TotalStorage DS4000 EXP700 and EXP710 Fibre Channel Storage Expansion Units.

IBM TotalStorage DS4000 Series for xSeries Servers Offers New 300 GB and 146 GB Disk Drive Module Options

Overview

The IBM TotalStorage® DS4000 series now offers two new optional 2 Gbps high-performance, hot-swappable, Fibre Channel disk drive modules. The new 300 GB disk drive operates at 10,000 rpm, while the new 146 GB drive module operates at 15,000 rpm. The 300 GB drive doubles the current storage capacity of the DS4000 series and enables configurations at more than 67 TB. The new 300 GB and 146 GB disk drive modules are available for the TotalStorage DS4300 Midrange Disk Systems and the TotalStorage DS4000 EXP700 and EXP710 Fibre Channel Storage Expansion Units.

The flexibility of the DS4000 series enables you to optimize your specific configurations based on individual capacity, performance, and price requirements. The DS4000 series is designed to provide a scalable basis for expansion as your demands grow.

Key prerequisites

The 300 GB and 146.8 GB disk drive options require an available disk drive bay in one of the following DS4000 series products:

· DS4300 Model 60U/60X Midrange Disk System (172260U, 172260X)

· DS4300 Model 6LU/6LX Midrange Disk System (17226LU, 17226LX)

· DS4000 EXP700 Fibre Channel Expansion Storage Unit (17401RU, 17401RX)

· DS4000 EXP710 Fibre Channel Expansion Storage Unit (1740710)
