Shavlik Technologies to Expand UNIX® Patch Management Solutions
ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 18 -- Shavlik Technologies, a leading provider of security software solutions, today announced it is developing patch management solutions for UNIX® operating systems. The resulting solutions will provide the user with a common user experience and set of capabilities for UNIX and Linux®, as is the case for the Shavlik integration for Microsoft® patches.
"We've invested much of our resources in providing patch management solutions for the Windows® operating environment," said Mark Shavlik, president and CEO of Shavlik Technologies. "However, that's only part of the solution. Our customers have been asking us to add patching functionality to address the widespread growth of UNIX systems. The combination of Windows and multiple UNIX patching capabilities provides customers access to a comprehensive solution to better protect and secure IT infrastructures."
The Shavlik UNIX solutions will help secure a wide-range of UNIX operating systems, including AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat Linux, and Solaris. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of mid-2005 for Red Hat and Solaris with additional platform support soon to follow.
