MSA Instrument Division Releases Z Gard™ Gas Monitoring Products

The MSA Instrument Division, Pittsburgh, PA, is pleased to announce the release of the Z Gard™ Gas Monitoring Products. These unique and economical sensors and controllers offer a wide range of features normally found on higher-priced units, and are configurable to fit many gas monitoring needs.

The Z Gard S Sensor is designed to detect the presence of carbon monoxide or nitrogen dioxide in air. Solid state or electrochemical sensors are employed which generate a representative output signal proportional to the gas concentration. All Z Gard S Sensors are available with two output versions, a 4-20mA analog output or an addressable RS485 digital signal. The RS485 digital output version is specifically designed to mate with an MSA Z Gard C Controller, operating as a system. The Z Gard S Sensor with 4-20mA can be installed as a stand-alone sensor or can be integrated with the Z Gard C Controller or existing building automation system.

Z Gard C Controllers are microprocessor-based and are designed to interface with up to 40 remote MSA Z Gard S Sensors. Remote gas sensors are connected via RS485 serial communication ports managed by the Z Gard Controller network or via a 4-20 mA analog output. These controllers can accept inputs from up to 40 MSA Z Gard Sensors. Through the Z Gard C Controller Assemble to Order price list, one can configure the controller that has the exact features to meet the application needs.

The Z Gard COmbo Gas Monitor with integrated carbon monoxide sensor is available in two versions, either employing a metal oxide solid-state sensor generally used for underground garage monitoring and ventilation control applications, or utilizing an electrochemical plug-in sensor. This electrochemical sensor model is recommended for facility monitoring.
