Light Measurement System detects luminance and optical power.

February 22, 2005 - Transimpedance-amplifier, Model TIA-3000 features interchangeable lenses and filters that enable user to tailor system to range of applications. In luminance configuration, unit detects as little as 10-6 cd/mē and features temperature-stabilized detector that maintains 0.01% linearity over dynamic range of more than 1,000,000 to 1. When configured for night vision, instrument detects as little as 0.3 fW of optical power.

Gamma Scientific Introduces High-Performance Luminance/Night-Vision Light-Measurement System

Ultra-sensitive instrument detects as little as 10E-6 candelas per square meter of luminance and as little as 0.3 fW of optical power

San Diego, Calif., February 10, 2005 - Gamma Scientific, a leading provider of precision light-measurement instruments, today announced the release of the TIA-3000, a new multi-application, transimpedance-amplifier system. This ultra-precise luminance, night-vision and general-radiometric light-measurement system features interchangeable lenses and filters that enable the user to quickly tailor the system to a wide range of applications.

Developed under a contract from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the TIA-3000 is the most sensitive primary-standard, light-measurement instrument on the market today.

In its luminance configuration, the instrument detects as little as 10E-6 candelas per square meter (cd/m2) of luminance and features a temperature-stabilized detector that maintains 0.01% linearity over a dynamic range of more than a 1,000,000 to 1. Total dynamic range spans eight separate decades. Moreover, the optical system enables the user to select any one of six different spot sizes, from 5.00 to 0.10.

When configured for night vision, the instrument detects as little as 0.3 femtowatts (0.3 x 10E-15 W) of optical power and features a temperature-stabilized detector that maintains 0.01% linearity over a dynamic range of more than a 1,000,000 to 1. Total dynamic range spans eight separate decades.

"The new TIA-3000 is an order of magnitude more sensitive than any similar instrument previously available," said Richard Austin, president of Gamma Scientific. "This unprecedented sensitivity can lower measurement uncertainty by a factor of ten, enabling faster measurements and ultimately decreasing the cost of performing luminance and night-vision display measurements."

Gamma Scientific is a leading manufacturer of precision light-measurement instruments, including photometers and radiometers, spectroradiometers, digital light sources and laser-power meters. The company also offers exacting calibrations in its optical-standards laboratory. For more information, please contact Gamma Scientific at info@gamma-sci.com.
