ATEN Technology Unveils New 2- and 4-Port KVM Switches With (DVI) Digital Visual Interface ConnectivityKVM Switches Include USB Support to Power DVI Devices
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 9 -- ATEN Technology, Inc., an innovator of high-quality KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) and remote connectivity solutions to manage servers and other network devices, today announced two powerful KVM solutions specifically designed to support the newest DVI (Digital Video Interface) devices. The new MasterView CS-1762 and CS-1764 are 2- and 4-port, high-density KVM switches that allow access to two and four computers, respectively. Both models boast a resolution of 1600x1200 and include an internal USB hub, allowing customers to connect two peripheral USB devices such as an external storage drive or printer.
According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is an uncompressed, digital video interface that was originally developed for the PC industry as a low-cost, high-bandwidth digital connection between PCs and digital monitors (such as LCDs). DVI is now the most widely used digital display interface in the PC industry and is available on most LCD monitors, as well as many PC display projectors and plasma panels. In addition to CEA, DVI has gained widespread support from cable and satellite industries.
"DVI has been embraced by both consumers and professionals alike, and offers dual support for both digital input and analog video input devices," said Sampson Yang, CEO, ATEN Technology, Inc. "We believe these new ATEN products take DVI technology to the next levels by combining 2- and 4-port KVM switches with the speed and reliability of 2- and 4-port USB hubs, while simultaneously offering an interface for a digital monitor."
The new ATEN products offer an independent (asynchronous) switching feature that enables the KVM switch to focus on one computer while the USB peripheral supports another one -- this eliminates the need to purchase a separate USB hub as well as separate stand-alone peripheral sharing products such as printer servers, modem splitters, etc. These KVM switches also provide multi-platform support for Windows and Mac host systems. To ease computer selection, the CS-1762 and CS-1764 have a front panel interface with push buttons and convenient hotkeys for switching between computers.
Other Highlights of the CS-1762 and CS-1764
• Full compliance with the USB 1.1 and DVI specifications
• Independent switching of KVM and peripheral USB/audio ports
• LED display for easy status monitoring
• Complete computer emulation for error-free booting
• Auto scan mode for monitoring all computers
"From consumers to broadcast companies to major movie studios, DVI is gaining momentum, offering even greater potential for KVM solutions that can seamlessly power these new devices," added Yang.
Pricing & Availability
Available today, the new CS-1762 and CS-1764 include requisite cables and are priced at $249.95 and $349.95, respectively.
