Fasteners resist corrosion in stainless steel sheets.
February 9, 2005 - Machined from hardened stainless steels, PEM® Fasteners can be installed permanently in stainless sheets as thin as .030 in. Self-clinching units made from 400 Series SS include PEM Type SO4™ thru-hole threaded standoffs; Type BSO4™ blind threaded standoffs; Type FH4™ flush-head studs; and Type PFC4™ panel fasteners, which incorporate captive screws and meet UL 1950 requirements. Non-clinch units include Type PFS™ SNAP-IN panel fasteners and Type PFF™ HYBRID™ floating panel fasteners.

PEM® Fasteners For Stainless Assemblies Resist Corrosion And Promote Lighter Designs
PEM® fasteners for use in thin stainless steel sheets provide ideal solutions for attachment applications where demanding requirements for corrosion resistance and thinner, lighter designs must be satisfied. They typically are specified for assemblies performing in challenging environments, including the medical and foodservice industries and others where the benefits of stainless equipment are desired.
Self-clinching fasteners in the product line made from 400 Series stainless steel include PEM Type PFC4™ panel fasteners, which incorporate captive screws to reduce loose parts and meet UL 1950 “service area access” requirements; Type SO4™ thru-hole threaded standoffs (available unthreaded for spacing multi-panel assemblies); Type BSO4™ blind threaded standoffs designed for stacking or spacing; and Type FH4™ flush-head studs.
The product line also includes Type SP™ PEM 300® nuts, whose corrosion resistance is similar to 300 Series stainless steel.
All are machined from specially hardened stainless steels and can be installed permanently in stainless sheets as thin as .030”/0.8mm, becoming integral parts of an assembly.
Non-clinch PEM fasteners for use in stainless steel include Type PFS™ SNAP-IN panel fasteners able to be installed (“snapped in”) without tools and Type PFF™ HYBRID™ floating panel fasteners featuring a unique flare-mount design to enable “floating” in mounting holes.
