Laser Stack Arrays range from 790-980 and 1,435-1,570 nm.

January 20, 2005 - Based on MOCVD-grown laser structure, micro-channel, water-cooled Cascade bars provide 50, 60, 80, or 100 W of CW power from 790–980 nm and 20 W of CW power from 1,435–1,570 nm. Stacks can include fast axis and slow axis collimation optics and can be configured horizontally or vertically, with max of 20 bars high or 6 bars across. Diode laser stack arrays are suited for direct-diode materials processing, medical applications, and as pump source for DPSS lasers.

nLight to Introduce High-Power Diode Laser Stack Arrays at Photonics West

Cascades(TM) will be featured at Booth #1827, January 25-27, 2005, in San Jose, California

VANCOUVER, Wash., January 18, 2005- nLight, a leading manufacturer of high-power semiconductor lasers, introduces Cascades diode laser stack arrays. Cascades stacks are available in wavelengths ranging from 790 nm to 980 nm and from 1435 nm to 1570 nm. Delivering high power from a compact, easy-to-integrate package, Cascades stacks are ideal for direct-diode materials processing, medical applications and can be used as a pump source for a wide range of diode-pumped solid-state lasers.

nLight's 1-cm-wide, micro-channel, water-cooled Cascades bars provide 50-, 60-, 80- or 100-watts of continuous-wave (CW) power from 790 nm to 980 nm and 20 watts CW power from 1435 nm to 1570 nm. As an added feature, Cascades stacks can include both fast axis and slow axis collimation optics and can be configured either horizontally or vertically, with a maximum of 20 bars high or 6 bars across.

"Cascades is an important building block in a host of commercial, medical, military and industrial applications," said Merrill Apter, nLight's vice president of sales and marketing. "They're ideal for applications that demand high-power, simple optical delivery, and long life operation."

The Cascades product line is based on nLight's proprietary MOCVD-grown laser structure, which has demonstrated over 364 watts CW power from a single, 1-cm bar. The product line's flagship is the 100-watt Cascades 80% fill-factor bar. Typical drive current and compliance voltage to achieve 100 watts at room temperature is 110 amperes at 1.8 volts. The spectral width is less than 3.0 nm, FWHM, and beam divergence is less than 36 degrees by less than 10 degrees, FWHM. nLight's internal state-of-the art lensing capabilities can reduce divergence in the fast and slow axes to less than 0.5 and 3 degrees, respectively.

About nLight:

nLight is focused solely on producing the world's leading high-power semiconductor lasers. nLight produces the broadest range of diode lasers in the industry, with wavelengths ranging from 635 nm to 1600 nm, in its vertically integrated 60,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility. nLight products offer superior performance and enable industrial, defense, medical, and graphics applications.
