Chip Shooter Calibrator corrects systematic offsets.

January 19, 2005 - To eliminate PCB defects, CmController Compact5 analyzes chip shooter machine capability, checking settings and functions of equipment such as clamping, sensors, nozzles, camera, and feeders to identify, control, and correct failures. Chip shooter machine capability is measured by running highly accurate glass board with injection molded dummy components through shooter, minimizing dimensional errors associated with epoxy board having real components.

CmController Calibrates, Corrects Chip Shooter Offsets for Higher Accuracy, Optimum Yields

Hudson, New Hampshire, USA -- The most common problem found on chip shooter placement equipment are systematic offsets (80%). They can be offsets per head, per nozzle, per angle or simply a general offset. Offsets negatively affect chip shooter accuracy, resulting in PCB defects, lower yields, and costly manual rework. With growing demand of 0201 and 01005 chip usage, placement accuracy is critically important. CeTaQ Americas’ CmController Compact5 is a powerful quality tool that analyzes chip shooter machine capability, checking the basic settings and functions of the equipment (clamping, sensors, nozzles, camera, feeders, etc.) to identify, control, and correct failures, so that the chip shooter can once again assemble product within the original quality specifications established by its manufacturer.

Chip shooter machine capability is measured by running a highly accurate glass board with injection molded dummy components through the shooter. These specialized tools are used to minimize the dimensional errors associated with an epoxy board with real components, and to provide accurate and relevant measurements. Additionally, the CmController is a mobile system designed for use on the production floor; it does not require a cleanroom with controlled temperature. CeTaQ America’s CmController is the only system that can properly calibrate all SMT placement, printer and dispensing machines on a production floor. The measurement is accurate, repeatable and independent.

CeTaQ Americas is the industry's foremost capability measurement specialist for SMT equipment.
