Abanaki’s Tote-It Oil Skimmer Offers Complete Portability

Oil Skimming Provides Most Inexpensive Method for Removing Oil From Water

Cleveland, OH, January 3, 2005 – Abanaki Corporation, the world leader in oil skimming products, has introduced a rugged, dependable portable oil skimmer. Well suited for removing oil from parts washing and machining center applications; the Tote-It® also reduces bacteria growth in tanks along with resulting odor.

The Abanaki Tote-It’s patented design is dependable and effective at removing up to 12 GPH (45 lph) of free floating oil from water. The heavy-duty portable unit can be hand carried to any indoor or outdoor application, from one tank to another. It weighs just 36 pounds (16 kilograms), so it’s easy to move around a facility. It can also be used in permanent installations with limited access areas. With proper configuration the Tote-It can handle liquid temperatures up to 212ş F and pH level can range from 3 to 13. The units mount easily and require minimal maintenance and cleaning.

The rugged oil skimmer’s design is based on the company’s proprietary belt skimming process that performs as the most inexpensive method for removing oil from water. Its belt attracts oil and other hydrocarbon liquids from the fluid’s surface, where the contaminants are then scraped off the sides of the belt and easily discharged. Oil skimming makes use of the differences in specific gravity and surface tension between oil and water. These physical characteristics allow the belt to attract oil and other hydrocarbon liquids from the surface of the fluid.

Applications for the Tote-It are found throughout a manufacturing or industrial facility:

· Saves coolants by removing tramp oil

· Conserves parts wash water and prevents recontamination of parts as they are removed from wash tank

· Prevents plugging of spray heads and filters

· Reduces fluid disposal costs and helps meet government requirements for water discharge

· Skimmed oil can be recycled and reused as a lubricant or fuel

· Effective even in turbulent fluids and fluctuating fluid levels

· Requires no tank modifications in most applications

Abanaki offers a variety of belt materials and widths (1”, 2” or 4”), depending on the application. Oil skimming specialists consult with customers to identify the proper belt dimensions, materials and length for the specific application.
