Antepo Adds Built-In Publish-Subscribe Capabilities to Its OPN Enterprise Instant Messaging System
New 'PubSub' Feature in OPN System Will Allow Enterprises and Service Providers to Build Content Delivery Engines for Real-Time News, Workflow, and System Information
NEW YORK, Jan. 5 -- Antepo, Inc. (http://www.antepo.com/), a pioneer of secure, interoperable Enterprise Instant Messaging (EIM), today announced plans to add publish-subscribe capabilities to the Open Presence Network(TM) (OPN) System, its flagship EIM and Presence software platform, beginning in early 2005. The new PubSub Engine will allow OPN System customers to develop mechanisms for the real-time delivery of content such as news feeds, weblog updates, vCards, network and system management alerts, and more via their existing Instant Messaging system.
"Companies are quickly realizing the value of publish-subscribe functionality to communicate critical updates to their staff or customers -- whether it's an online news item of importance, an internal report that needs review, or an urgent system alert. They have also recognized that instant messaging is a natural conduit for content delivery - which is why so many of our customers are requesting publish-subscribe capabilities as part of their OPN System installations," said Maxime Seguineau, CEO of Antepo. "Antepo's PubSub Engine for OPN System provides the building block for customers to extend the capabilities of IM with the on-demand presence-based delivery of a broad range of content, news, and information."
The OPN System PubSub Engine will offer a generic, event-based middleware broker that can be utilized by all forms of publish-subscribe to achieve real-time content delivery; its initial release will provide an XMPP-based interface compliant with the Jabber Software Foundation's JEP-0060 protocol draft. As a result, the PubSub Engine can be used to facilitate real-time delivery of information from a wide variety of sources, including the Internet, intranets, ERP, CRM and other business systems, network management consoles, and more. The OPN System foundation ensures the enterprise-grade interoperability, security, and reliability that cannot be found in other commercial EIM solutions or open source products such as Jabber.
"Today, most application middleware systems are invocation-based and thus follow a synchronous request-response paradigm. Typically, a browser requests a particular service from a server by either sending a request message or performing a remote method invocation and then receives a reply in return," added Seguineau. "A Presence and Instant Messaging infrastructure is the natural framework for decoupled and asynchronous many-to-many flows between content subscribers and publishers."
About Antepo
