Brady Photoluminescent Stairwell Signs Provide Critical Information In Complete Darkness

MILWAUKEE --(December 20, 2004) - One of the most critical safety considerations in a building is making sure that people can find their way out in an emergency. It becomes an even bigger concern if the lights go out, because people need to be able to easily locate stairwells to ensure they can quickly and safely exit the building, while avoiding panic and confusion.

Brady Corporation helps light the way with BradyGlo(tm) photoluminescent stairwell signs. Brady offers an 8-1/4" x 8-1/4" sign imprinted with the legend "In Case of Fire Use Stairwells" and the familiar silhouetted icon of a person descending a staircase. Brady also offers a customizable 10" x 13" sign that can be imprinted with information unique to a specific location. Both signs feature BradyGlo(tm) photoluminescent material that glows bright green for up to ten hours with no external power source, lighting a pathway even in complete darkness.

BradyGlo(tm) material is durable, safe, non-toxic and non-radioactive. It conforms to numerous standards, including the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, which deals with minimizing danger from fires, smoke, fumes or panic while buildings are being vacated. Among other requirements, the Life Safety Code states that stairs serving buildings of five or more stories must have informational and directional signage within the enclosure of each floor landing.
