ITT Industries, Cannon Offers PB-Free Switching Solutions

NEWTON, Mass. – December 6, 2004 – In advance of much of the industry and in line with imminent world-wide legislation, ITT Industries, Cannon now offers a wide range of its switch products in lead-free versions. Cannon’s vast portfolio of switch products includes many devices that are not only lead-free, but also contain no cadmium, mercury, or other toxic substances, such as hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

Switches such as the innovative trackball navigation switch, and KMR, KMS, TPC, TPA and KSU tact switches are not only completely free of all the chemicals mentioned above, but have also been designed to be completely compatible with lead-free solder processes.

Cannon’s C&K switching products, such as the recently-introduced Elum™ illuminated pushbutton switch series, are similarly environmentally friendly. With a height of only 6mm, Elum switches are notable for their right angle actuator with integral, central LED. This simplifies the design of front panels for applications such as mode select, power on, reset and notification functions and menu select.
