Ringfeder's Two-Piece Shrink Discs® Allow for Better Centering and Concentricity

Westwood, NJ- Ringfeder's Two-Piece Shrink Discs® provide shaft/hub connection solutions for a variety of high-speed applications, especially when external clamping is necessary. The long, shallow taper allows the Two-Piece Shrink Discs® to generate higher torques than traditional three piece units. Its better-balanced design permits higher speed connections, without special balancing. Applications include wind turbine connections on speed increaser gearboxes, hollow shaft connections in mining gearboxes and any other type of connection where a high-speed coupling is needed.

Installation is also simplified. The design of the Two-Piece Shrink Disc® provides the installer with a visual aid to see if the Shrink Disc® is properly installed. When the fasteners are properly torqued, the inner ring face will be flush with the outer ring face when completely tight. A torque wrench is recommended to properly tighten the screws.

The high alloy steel Two-Piece Shrink Discs® can always be used in place of traditional three-piece Shrink Discs®. The Two-Piece Shrink Discs® are available in both standard and metric sizes, from >" to 20" and 19mm to 500mm with torque ranges from 136 lb-ft to 860,000 lb-ft. Low Inertia Series Shrink Discs® and Heavy-Duty Shrink Discs® for smaller shafts are available upon request.

In 1972, Ringfeder Corporation became the first manufacturer to introduce External Shrink Discs® to the North American power transmission market and remains a leader in shaft/hub connection componentry. Ringfeder offers a complete line of backlash free, keyless shaft/hub locking devices for power transmission solutions. They eliminate the need for keyways or splines and reduce machining costs. The keyless shaft/hub connection also allows for easy installation, assembly and disassembly.

Ringfeder offers a wide range of power transmission solutions including: keyless shaft/hub connections, torque limiters, shock absorbing devices, flexible elastomeric couplings, flexible disc couplings and specialty products for all your power transmission needs.
