Gearless Motors deliver more than 100 lb-in. torque.

November 26, 2004 - Featuring enclosed construction, e-TORQ Direct Drive Brushless DC Servo Motors are available in widths under 2 in. and diameters from 7–14 in. and larger. Compact products employ electromagnetic design with ironless stator. Lack of iron saturation provides maximum torque linearity, meaning that torque is consistent across speed range without cogging or velocity fluctuations. Motors are offered with various shaft, through hole, and mounting arrangements.

New Gearless Motor Delivers High Peak Torque

Bodine Electric Company introduces the new e-TORQ Direct Drive Brushless DC Servo Motors. The motors employ a unique electromagnetic design to improve efficiency, minimize size, and maximize torque. The e-TORQ motors are ideal for OEM’s where high torque, very compact design, enclosed construction, and economy are necessary. Bodine has assembled a team of engineers available to work with OEMs to customize this product to fit most applications.

The ironless stator of e-TORQ motors eliminate iron saturation common to most other types of motors, and allows the motor to run smoothly at extremely low speeds. The lack of iron saturation provides maximum torque linearity, meaning that torque is extremely consistent from very low to very high speeds without any cogging or velocity fluctuations (ISV). The high torque capability can allow the elimination of costly gearboxes and remove the risk of lubricant leaks. The e-TORQ motors are available in widths of less than two inches, with diameters ranging from 7 to 14 inches and larger; deliver more than 100 lb-in. at speeds of up to 6,000 rpm, all with a wide range of shaft, through hole, or mounting arrangements.

Bodine Electric Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary of manufacturing fractional horsepower electric motors in 2005. Still family owned, Bodine is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and offers more than 850 stock motors and gearmotors worldwide, including AC, DC, and Brushless DC. Each drive is complemented by system-matched Bodine motion controls. Bodine also offers built-to-order services with engineering support for concurrent product development. All items are available from a strategically located network of Bodine MotionPRO Sales Reps and Authorized Distributors worldwide.
