Palm™ Compatible Hour Meters and Event Counters Monitor Systems

ROLLING MEADOWS, ILLINOIS, USA. L-3 Communications, Electrodynamics, Inc. announces the introduction of the DDS200 Series solid-state panel mount Hour Meters and Event Counters designed to MIL-M-7793/14 and companion Palm™-Based Reader, Model DDR-1. The compact indicators provide a dependable means of monitoring and storing warranty or maintenance data in military and high reliability applications where commercial grade components are unable to survive. These indicators operate with 26 VAC or 28 VDC and are packaged in a 0.5” square aluminum housing. Model DDS200 Hour Meter records the time that power has been applied up to 99,999.99 hours. Model DDS201 Event Counter records the number of times that power has been applied for at least five seconds up to 9,999,999 counts

The DDS 200 Series indicators can be interrogated using the M7793/12 reader or through the new DDR-1 Palm™ - Based Reader designed to provide increased functionality for the indicators. The DDR-1 includes an interface cable and software that connects the DDS200 indicators to a Palm™ PDA. Unlike the M7793/12 reader, which only allows the user to read the data on the indicator, the Palm™/DDR-1 allows the user to take a reading, log and store the information in an Excel™ compatible format on the PDA, and easily synchronize that file with a desktop computer. Once stored, the information can be managed more effectively allowing the users to identify trends, better manage warranty and maintenance data, and eliminate the need for manual records. The DDR-1 interface is compatible with any Palm™ PDA that uses the 16 pin universal connector. Models include the m500 series PDAs, the Zire 71, and the Tungsten T2 and T-3.

The DDS200 series indicators are $200.00 each or lower, depending on volume. The DDR-1 Reader is available for $200.00 each. Delivery time is 4-6 weeks after receipt of order.
